A pleasure to represent the NWC at the 95th Annual West Texas County Judges and Commissioners Conference today in Amarillo, Texas. We spoke on a panel with former NWC Chair Kevin Burns, Precinct 2 Commissioner, Wise Co. and long time NWC Member John Foster of the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board. All aspects of the USDA Watershed Program including EWP were mentioned from the podium. A good session with a good question or two after the presentation. We’re homeward bound!

Our Oklahoma friends are out doing pipe inspections today..thanks to the OCC for sharing the post.
Happy January 2024! We’ve been in the deep freeze for several weeks around here. With some snow, ice and wind that has made outdoor activity MISERABLE. Some of our Montana, South Dakota and Iowa friends have been sending us time and temp pictures that make our -5 look like child’s play. So…while hanging out by the stove and letting hounds out and in…I’ve been thinking about inspections. More accurately the potential for problems on our structures that freeze/thaw cycles and expanding ice cover can bring. We are very familiar with pipe separation and leaning inlets following extreme winter weather. While now is not the time to be out and about…it is a great time to be planning for spring inspections. Gathering files, rereading recent inspection reports, mapping an efficient route, checking equipment and lining up any additional assistance you need..can all be done indoor while avoiding this wide spread cold. So take heart, warmer temperatures are on the way (we’re up to 33 today🥶😅) and Spring inspections are just around the corner!
